Pueblo, Colorado – Residents across southeastern Colorado are urged to stay alert this afternoon as the threat for tornadoes, very large hail, and damaging winds spikes between 4 and 8 p.m. While confidence is only moderate, the National Weather Service warns that any storms that do form could quickly turn severe and dangerous.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, areas including Crowley, Otero, Bent, Kiowa, and Prowers counties are under a severe weather risk today. If storms develop, hazards could include hail up to 3.5 inches, wind gusts of 65-85 mph, and the possibility of one or two tornadoes, particularly across open plains and near major highways like US-50 and US-287. Power outages, downed trees, and brief road closures could occur with any tornado touchdown or severe wind event. Residents are advised to monitor alerts closely, have phones charged, and review shelter plans in case warnings are issued.

Though confidence is low and not every area will see storms, the risk for tornadoes and destructive hail remains through early evening. Further updates and advisories are possible if storm development increases.
