Phoenix, AZ – Showers and thunderstorms will develop across southeastern Arizona this afternoon, moving northwestward into the evening hours and potentially affecting the Phoenix Metro area.
The U.S. National Weather Service in Phoenix reports that the storm activity could reach the lower deserts, including Phoenix and nearby areas. These storms may bring locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and patchy blowing dust.
Residents should prepare for evening showers and possible storms lasting into early Thursday morning. The weather system, moving at 10 to 15 mph from the northwest, could create hazardous travel conditions with reduced visibility and slick roads.
Rainfall is most likely overnight, with the heaviest precipitation expected north of Phoenix. Those in affected areas should stay updated on local weather alerts and exercise caution during this period of unsettled weather. The National Weather Service may issue additional alerts if conditions worsen.
