Cheyenne, Wyoming – Scattered severe storms are expected to erupt across southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska this afternoon, with large hail and damaging winds posing the most serious threat.
According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, the region faces a Level 3 (Enhanced Risk) for severe weather between 2 and 7 p.m. Monday, June 16. Affected cities include Cheyenne, Torrington, Scottsbluff, and Alliance. Storms could also produce isolated tornadoes and flash flooding, especially in areas where cells cluster or train over the same locations.
Wyoming Highway 85 and Interstate 80 travelers should monitor conditions closely as storms may reduce visibility and produce hazardous driving conditions. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and stay weather-aware as storms could quickly turn dangerous.
Nocturnal storms are possible after midnight, particularly along the Nebraska border, as instability lingers. Emergency alerts and shelter plans should remain in place through the overnight hours.
Warnings remain in effect across the region into Tuesday morning. Updates will follow as conditions develop.
