Milwaukee, WI – A burst of light snow moving into southeast Wisconsin late Tuesday night could make for a slow and slippery drive along major corridors like I-94 and I-43 by early Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, 1 to 2 inches of powdery snow will fall between late evening and early Wednesday, with the heaviest stretch expected from about 11 p.m. through 4 a.m. As the snow tapers off near sunrise, a brief period of freezing drizzle could develop, leaving a thin glaze on untreated roads.

Travel impacts are expected statewide across southern Wisconsin, with the most consistent accumulation along and west of the I-39 corridor, including Madison and Janesville. In the Milwaukee metro, drivers on I-94, I-43, and Highway 41 may encounter reduced visibility and slick patches, especially on bridges and elevated roadways.

Officials urge commuters to slow down, allow extra time, and remain alert for rapidly changing road conditions during the Wednesday morning drive. Side streets and sidewalks may also become icy.

Conditions should improve by midmorning Wednesday as precipitation ends, though additional updates may follow if icing lingers.
