Milwaukee, Wis. – Streets and neighborhoods across Milwaukee are dealing with significant flooding after nearly 10 inches of rain fell in parts of the metro area, with more storms expected to add to the total through early Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, widespread rainfall of 3 to 10 inches hit southeast Wisconsin by early Sunday, with the heaviest bands drenching Waukesha, West Bend, and Milwaukee. A Flood Watch remains in effect for all of southern Wisconsin until 7 a.m. Monday, with an additional 1 to 2 inches possible — and locally higher amounts where thunderstorms linger.
Urban and low-lying areas are at highest risk for flash flooding, especially if repeated downpours track over saturated ground. Drivers should avoid flooded roadways, as street flooding has already been reported in multiple parts of Milwaukee County. The NWS warns that conditions could worsen overnight if heavy rain bands stall.
Residents are urged to monitor local alerts and be prepared for potential flood advisories. The current Flood Watch could be extended if storms persist into Monday.
