Atlanta, GA – The coldest night of November is arriving for the Southeast, as temperatures plunge into the 20s and 30s across nearly every state from Alabama to the Carolinas. According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, the widespread chill will grip the region Monday night, November 10, into early Tuesday morning, November 11, ending the growing season across much of the Deep South.

Forecast lows include 26°F in Birmingham, 27°F in Atlanta, 29°F in Raleigh, 30°F in Columbia, and 32°F in Montgomery. Even the coastal cities of Savannah, Charleston, and Wilmington will fall into the mid-30s, with frost expected as far south as the Florida Panhandle.

The National Weather Service offices across the region — including Birmingham, Peachtree City, Columbia, and Raleigh — have issued frost and freeze alerts for millions of residents. Forecasters warn this will be the coldest and most widespread freeze of the season, with wind chills dropping into the low-20s inland.

Clear skies and light winds overnight will allow for rapid cooling, while strong northwest breezes earlier in the evening will make temperatures feel even colder.

The Weather Prediction Center’s Hazards Outlook places the Southeast within a massive “Frost/Freeze” corridor extending from the Gulf Coast through the Mid-Atlantic — one of the earliest and most widespread November cold events in recent years.

Tuesday’s highs will rebound only into the upper-40s north and low-50s south before another frosty morning Wednesday.

Residents are urged to bring pets indoors, wrap outdoor pipes, and cover tender plants.
