Atlanta, Georgia – Heavy rain signals are strengthening across the Southeast just ahead of Easter, with some areas facing up to a 70% likelihood of above-normal precipitation during one of the busiest travel periods of the season.

According to the National Weather Service’s 8–14 day outlook issued March 27, a concentrated corridor of wetter-than-average conditions will stretch from eastern Texas through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and into Georgia between Saturday and the following weekend. The highest probabilities, between 60% and 70%, focus on cities including Dallas, Shreveport, Jackson, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, and Atlanta.

This setup places major travel routes like I-10, I-20, I-55, and I-75 at risk for periods of reduced visibility and slick road conditions during peak Easter travel windows. Memphis and Little Rock also fall within this active zone, where repeated rounds of showers could lead to localized ponding on roads.

Farther east into the Carolinas and Florida, rain chances ease slightly into the 40% to 50% range but remain elevated enough to impact outdoor services and gatherings in cities like Charlotte, Charleston, and Jacksonville.

Temperatures across the Southeast will run above seasonal averages, ensuring all precipitation falls as rain while increasing atmospheric moisture available for heavier bursts.

Residents should prepare for wet roads, allow extra travel time, and consider indoor alternatives for Easter events. This active pattern is expected to persist through the holiday window, with additional advisories likely as confidence in timing and rainfall totals improves.
