Houston, TX – Southeast Texas residents should prepare for a series of thunderstorms beginning tonight and intensifying through midweek, with impacts expected along major roadways including I-10 and I-45. These storms, driven by a cold front, bring threats of heavy rainfall, gusty winds up to 25 mph, and possible lightning. Motorists are urged to exercise caution, especially in low-lying areas prone to flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Houston-Galveston, tonight will start with isolated thunderstorms, primarily south of the I-10 corridor, with lows around 75 degrees. Wednesday presents the highest risk for widespread storms as temperatures reach 84 degrees, bringing a 70% chance of rain during the day. Storms are expected to increase in intensity through Wednesday night, posing a significant travel risk for evening commuters and impacting visibility and road conditions.

Looking ahead, thunderstorms will persist on Thursday and Friday, albeit with a slightly reduced intensity. By Friday, rain chances hold steady at 50%, with a daytime high near 81 degrees, providing potential relief from the humidity but requiring continued caution for outdoor activities. Southeast Texas residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates closely and consider alternate routes if traveling along I-10 or I-45.

The NWS advises keeping emergency kits on hand, checking road conditions before heading out, and avoiding waterlogged roadways. As the region navigates these stormy conditions, residents should remain vigilant, particularly with Halloween festivities planned this week. For the weekend, skies are forecast to clear, though intermittent rain may still occur.
