Houston, TX – Residents across the Houston-Galveston area are being urged to use caution outdoors today as dry air is expected to elevate the risk of fire starts, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Forecasters said Monday will bring high temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s, with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. While skies will see increasing upper-level cloud cover, the dry air is expected to keep humidity low, creating conditions more favorable for wildfire activity.

According to the NWS, little to no rainfall is expected through midweek. Rain chances are forecast to gradually return by Thursday and Friday, particularly in coastal areas such as Galveston and League City. By the end of the week, precipitation probabilities climb as high as 45% in some locations.

Communities across Southeast Texas—including Houston, Conroe, College Station, and Baytown—can expect steady heat near 90°F each afternoon through Friday. Overnight lows will provide modest relief, settling mostly in the 60s inland and low 70s along the coast.

Officials advise residents to avoid outdoor burning or activities that could spark fires until conditions improve later this week.
