Houston, TX – Southeast Texas will see a rainy Sunday as thunderstorms and heavy winds roll through Houston and surrounding areas. Drivers on I-45 and the Gulf Freeway should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility.
According to the National Weather Service, rain chances increase after midnight Saturday, with showers likely by early Sunday morning. Thunderstorms may intensify after noon, bringing wind gusts up to 25 mph and potential downpours. Rainfall amounts are expected to range from a quarter to half an inch, with localized flooding possible in low-lying areas.
Sunday night will remain windy and wet, with storms tapering off early Monday. Rain is forecast to return Monday morning, bringing up to an inch of additional precipitation in some areas. Gusty winds will persist, making road conditions hazardous for commuters.
Looking ahead, conditions will improve Tuesday with sunny skies and a high near 77°F. Wednesday and Thursday will bring cooler temperatures, with highs in the mid-60s and lows dipping to the mid-40s.
Residents are encouraged to monitor weather alerts and avoid driving through flooded roads. Keep an umbrella handy Sunday and plan for delays if traveling. Use caution on highways, especially near construction zones and flood-prone areas.
