HOUSTON, Texas – Strong northwest winds are battering parts of southeast and south-central Texas this afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph expected to continue through 7 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston issued a Wind Advisory urging residents to secure outdoor objects and use caution on the roads.

According to the National Weather Service, winds between 20 and 30 mph—with higher gusts in open areas—are expected to impact counties including Harris, Brazoria, Montgomery, and Galveston. High-profile vehicles may be difficult to control on elevated roadways such as I-45 and U.S. 59, and scattered power outages are possible as tree limbs come down across the region.

Utility crews across Houston and surrounding counties are on alert for potential outages, while coastal areas such as Galveston and Bolivar Peninsula may experience stronger gusts. Drivers are urged to slow down, especially on bridges and overpasses.

The advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m., though breezy conditions could linger into early Wednesday. More weather updates will be issued if stronger gusts develop across the Gulf Coast.
