Lake Charles, Louisiana – Dry air and warming temperatures are settling in immediately Thursday morning, eliminating rain chances and accelerating drought concerns across Southeast Texas and much of Louisiana.
According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, rain chances will remain at 0% through at least early next week as high pressure dominates the region. Afternoon highs climb steadily from the upper 70s Thursday into the mid to upper 80s by Saturday and Sunday, with cities like Beaumont, Lake Charles, and Lafayette all could to reach 83°F to 88°F during peak afternoon hours.
This prolonged dry stretch is already impacting soil moisture and vegetation. Areas including Crowley, Opelousas, and De Ridder will see multiple consecutive days without measurable rainfall, increasing wildfire sensitivity, especially in grassy and rural zones. Winds remain relatively light, generally 5 to 15 mph, but will be enough to dry out surface fuels.
Overnight lows will stay mild, ranging from the mid-50s to low 60s, limiting recovery for dry ground conditions. Outdoor burning is discouraged, and residents should monitor local fire guidance.
Conditions remain unchanged into early next week, with no significant rainfall signals. Additional advisories may be issued if drought conditions intensify.
