Houston, TX – Southeast Texas remains under a Heat Advisory through Thursday evening as extreme temperatures continue to affect the region. The National Weather Service issued the advisory, warning of a heat index ranging from 107°F to 112°F. This advisory follows an Excessive Heat Warning with indices exceeding 113°F, which expired Wednesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, temperatures, though not as high as earlier in the week, will remain dangerous. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, wear light clothing, and stay hydrated. Air quality is also a concern, with an Ozone Action Day in effect, making the air unhealthy for sensitive groups.

The NWS urges caution as heat-related illnesses can occur rapidly in such conditions. Residents should take frequent breaks in air-conditioned environments and avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles. With the region experiencing persistent heat, these precautions are essential to ensure public safety.
