Houston, Texas – Dangerous heat grips Southeast Texas this week, with heat index values soaring into the 100–109°F range and actual highs reaching the upper 90s through Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, cities including Brenham, Conroe, and Columbus will see highs of 96–97°F on Monday and Tuesday. When humidity is factored in, outdoor conditions could feel like 109°F — a level where heat exhaustion becomes a serious risk.

Houston will top out near 95°F both days, while inland cities such as Katy, College Station, and El Campo may flirt with 98°F. A cold front is expected to arrive midweek, slightly lowering both temperatures and humidity levels by Thursday.

The heat will be particularly intense along I-10 and Highway 290 corridors. Residents should limit outdoor activities between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., hydrate frequently, and check on elderly neighbors. Cooling centers may open in some counties if heat indices persist above 105°F.

Relief is in sight by Thursday, but highs will remain in the upper 80s and low 90s into the weekend. Another heat advisory may follow if conditions don’t ease as expected.
