Lake Charles, LA – Southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana face an active weather pattern today as a cold front moves into the region, bringing widespread showers, thunderstorms, and a risk of flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service Lake Charles, storms are expected to increase in coverage through Wednesday afternoon and evening. Forecasters warn that some storms could produce damaging wind gusts over 58 mph, heavy rainfall, and localized flash flooding, especially in poor drainage areas. Rain chances remain high tonight, with probabilities between 60% and 80% across much of the region.

The Weather Prediction Center has placed the region under a marginal risk for excessive rainfall, meaning a 5–14% chance of flash flooding within 25 miles of a location. Severe weather potential is also rated at the marginal level, with low-end threats for hail and isolated tornadoes.

Rain and thunderstorms will linger into Thursday before the system clears out. By Friday, conditions are expected to improve significantly, with drier and cooler weather moving in for the weekend. Highs will remain in the mid to upper 80s, with rain chances dropping to zero from Friday through Sunday.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, have multiple ways to receive alerts, and avoid flooded roadways.
