Lake Charles, LA – A cold front moving into the Gulf Coast late Saturday is expected to bring scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms across southeast Texas and central and southwest Louisiana, according to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles.
Forecasters say storms will develop Saturday afternoon into early Sunday, fueled by warm Gulf moisture meeting the incoming front. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the region under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather, meaning isolated damaging wind gusts are possible—especially along and north of the I-10 corridor.
Rainfall totals are projected to range between 0.10 and 0.50 inches, with 40–60% of the area expected to receive measurable rainfall greater than a quarter-inch. The NWS notes that this “wetting rain” could temporarily reduce fire danger following a stretch of dry weather.
Temperatures will stay near 90°F Saturday, falling into the mid-80s by Sunday as cooler air settles in behind the front. Conditions will dry out by Monday, bringing a return to mild, sunny weather.
Residents are urged to monitor local alerts and use caution during any storms Saturday night, especially while driving on wet roads.
