Houston, TX – Wet weather is on the way for southeast Texas, with periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms expected from Friday night through Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston.

Forecasters say rainfall will increase across the region beginning Friday evening, with widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms continuing through Saturday night. Rainfall totals of 2–4 inches are likely across much of the area, with localized amounts up to 5 inches possible, especially near and south of I-10 and across the Houston Metro.

The NWS has issued a Level 2 of 4 “Slight Risk” for excessive rainfall for Saturday, meaning localized flash flooding is possible in low-lying or poor drainage areas. Motorists are urged to avoid flooded roadways and stay weather-aware throughout the weekend.

Conditions should improve gradually late Sunday, with drier and slightly cooler air returning early next week.
