Houston, TX – A dense fog advisory is in effect for southeast Texas, including Houston and surrounding areas, until 9 a.m. CST Saturday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The advisory, issued early Saturday morning, warns of visibility dropping to one mile or less in many areas. This could create hazardous driving conditions, especially along major roadways such as I-10, I-45, and Highway 290. Drivers are advised to slow down, use their headlights, and maintain a safe following distance.
Areas affected include Houston, College Station, The Woodlands, Galveston, Sugar Land, and other communities in southeast and south-central Texas. Fog is expected to gradually lift after sunrise as temperatures rise.
According to NWS, dense fog forms when cool air settles over moist ground, a common occurrence in early spring. Residents should remain cautious when traveling early in the morning and allow extra travel time.
Authorities urge motorists to take necessary precautions, including avoiding high speeds and using low-beam headlights to enhance visibility. If possible, delaying travel until conditions improve is recommended.
