Houston, TX – Southeast Texas is preparing for widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall expected to intensify Sunday night into Monday morning. Residents along major routes, including I-10, should anticipate challenging driving conditions due to possible street flooding.

According to the National Weather Service Houston-Galveston, rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are forecast, with isolated areas receiving up to 4 inches. The greatest risk for heavy rainfall is late Sunday and into Monday morning as a slow-moving cold front passes through the region. Areas prone to flooding, including low-lying streets and bayous, may experience rising water levels.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution, especially during the Monday morning commute, when ponding on roads and reduced visibility are likely. Residents should avoid driving through flooded areas and monitor updates via local weather alerts.

Sunday’s high will hover around 68°F, with thunderstorms becoming more widespread after 2 p.m. Overnight lows will fall to 53°F, with persistent showers continuing into Monday morning. Monday’s high is forecast to reach 62°F under cloudy skies as rain tapers off by the afternoon.

Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday will bring mostly dry conditions, with highs of 65-72°F. However, another round of rain is possible by midweek. Residents should stay updated as forecasts evolve.
