Houston, TX – Southeast Texas is under a Heat Advisory as temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels through the weekend. The National Weather Service in Houston-Galveston has warned residents of the potential for heat index values to exceed 110°F, particularly in the afternoon hours on Friday and Saturday. This intense heat, coupled with high humidity, poses significant risks for heat-related illnesses, especially for those engaged in outdoor activities.
According to the National Weather Service, the combination of high temperatures and humidity will result in extremely hot conditions, making it hazardous for those without air conditioning or those spending extended periods outdoors. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activities during peak heat hours, and check on vulnerable family members and neighbors.
Sunday could bring a slight reprieve with the possibility of scattered showers and thunderstorms as a weakening frontal boundary moves through the area. However, temperatures will remain hot, only dropping a few degrees. Looking ahead, the forecast from Monday to Thursday suggests continued high temperatures with little chance of rain. Additional Heat Advisories may be issued as these conditions persist.
