HOUSTON, TX – The warm, humid air draping across southeast Texas this morning feels more like late spring than mid-December. Drivers heading along I-45 and Beltway 8 may notice patchy fog forming near low-lying areas, a signal of the moist Gulf air returning to Houston just ahead of a developing weekend change.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston, temperatures will climb into the mid-60s to mid-70s through Friday, bringing several days of mild sunshine and hazy mornings. Patchy fog is expected again Friday night into Saturday, with a 30–50% chance of scattered showers developing as a weak front approaches from the west.

While this isn’t a severe setup, visibility may drop under a quarter mile in spots early Saturday, creating slick bridges and delays for early commuters and travelers heading toward the Gulf Coast. Any showers should taper by Saturday evening, followed by partly sunny skies and cooler highs in the low 60s Sunday.

Meteorologists say the next system early next week could bring additional light rain and a gradual pattern shift toward more typical December conditions by midweek.

5-Day Outlook (Dec. 11–15):

  • Friday: Patchy fog early, mostly sunny, high 75°F, low 61°F.
  • Saturday: 30% showers, high 72°F, low 57°F.
  • Sunday: Partly sunny, high 61°F, low 38°F.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny, high 54°F.
  • Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, high 63°F.
