Charleston, WV – Southeast Ohio is on alert as damaging winds and severe storms are forecasted to impact the region beginning today and extending through the weekend. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston, WV, has issued a warning for isolated to scattered thunderstorms this afternoon, with the potential for severe weather, particularly damaging winds, across Southeast Ohio and Northeast Kentucky.

According to the NWS, the storms are expected to intensify as a warm front and disturbance cross the area, bringing the risk of heavy rainfall and localized flooding. The most significant weather impacts are anticipated to occur later today into the evening hours. Residents in the affected areas are urged to monitor local forecasts and take precautions as necessary.

Looking ahead, the forecast shows a continued chance of storms through the weekend. Saturday is expected to be partly cloudy with a high near 88°F, providing a brief respite from the rain. However, by Sunday, the storm threat returns with a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, accompanied by cooler temperatures around 78°F.

The stormy pattern will persist into early next week, with showers likely on Monday and a gradual clearing by Tuesday. Temperatures are forecasted to drop to the mid-70s, bringing a break from the heat.
