Billings, MT – Snow and strong winds will return to southeast Montana tonight, bringing hazardous travel conditions and reduced visibility. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued, with snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches expected across lower elevations. Wind gusts could reach 50 mph, making driving dangerous, especially along I-94 and surrounding highways.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory begins at 5 p.m. Sunday and continues through noon Monday. Higher elevations may see even greater snowfall, while wind-driven snow is expected to create low visibility and drifting across roads. Travelers should plan ahead, as conditions will deteriorate rapidly after sunset.

The extended forecast indicates continued chilly temperatures and blustery conditions. Monday’s high in Billings will reach 41°F with partly sunny skies after early snow showers. Winds will remain strong at 15-23 mph, gradually calming by Monday evening. By Tuesday, conditions will improve with highs near 47°F and partly sunny skies, offering a brief respite before colder weather returns late in the week.

Residents and travelers are urged to check road conditions by dialing 511 and use caution when driving through affected areas. Prepare for sudden visibility drops and slippery roads, particularly near Miles City and Glendive. If possible, delay travel until conditions improve on Monday afternoon.

Looking ahead, the region will see a mix of sun and clouds through midweek. Another round of snow could arrive by late Thursday or Friday, further impacting travel and outdoor plans. Stay updated with the latest forecasts as winter weather patterns persist.
