La Crosse, WI – Drivers in southeast Minnesota are facing hazardous travel conditions early Tuesday as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Dense Fog Advisory through 9 a.m.
According to the NWS in La Crosse, visibility has dropped to a quarter mile or less in dense fog across Wabasha, Dodge, Olmsted, Winona, Mower, Fillmore, and Houston counties. Cities impacted include Rochester, Austin, Winona, Preston, Caledonia, Wabasha, and Dodge Center.
Officials warn that the fog may cause dangerous driving conditions, particularly along highways, rural roads, and river valleys where visibility can change rapidly. Motorists are advised to slow down, use headlights, and increase following distance during the morning commute.
The fog is expected to lift by mid-morning Tuesday, with improving conditions after sunrise. Until then, travelers should allow extra travel time and remain alert to sudden drops in visibility.
