Ann Arbor, MI – The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a Winter Storm Warning for portions of southeast Michigan, in effect from 3 p.m. Saturday through 10 a.m. Sunday.
Forecasters expect heavy snow to develop Saturday afternoon, spreading across the Tri-Cities region—including Midland, Bay City, and Saginaw—and extending south through Howell, Ann Arbor, and Adrian. Total accumulations are forecast between 5 and 8 inches, with snowfall rates nearing one inch per hour at times between 6 p.m. and midnight.
The National Weather Service warns that travel could become very difficult, especially Saturday evening and early Sunday. Visibility may drop sharply during heavier bursts of snow, and untreated roads will quickly become snow-covered.
Motorists are urged to delay nonessential travel, drive with caution, and ensure vehicles are winter-ready. If travel is unavoidable, keep food, water, and a flashlight in your car in case of emergency. The latest road updates can be found via the MDOT Michigan Drive Map.
Light snow will taper off by late Sunday morning, but slick and icy roads may persist into the start of the workweek.
