Detroit, Mich. – Southeast Michigan is waking up to the coolest stretch of the week Sunday, with daytime highs topping out near 66 to 69 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 30s and low 40s in some suburbs, making it feel more like early October than early September.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, conditions will gradually warm each day, with highs reaching the low 70s Monday, climbing into the upper 70s Tuesday, and peaking around 80 to 82 degrees by Wednesday afternoon. Skies will also brighten, with fewer clouds after Monday and more sunshine returning midweek.
Communities across Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties should prepare for wide temperature swings — jackets may be needed in the mornings, but lighter clothing will feel more comfortable by afternoon, especially Tuesday and Wednesday. Travelers and early morning commuters should also be ready for chilly starts, particularly in outlying areas north of Detroit where lows near 38 are expected Sunday night.
The warming trend is expected to continue into late week, with no major rainmakers in the short-term outlook.
