Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan will see a wet and windy weekend as a strong weather system moves through the region Saturday and Sunday, bringing moderate rainfall and gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, rain showers will develop Saturday afternoon and evening, with widespread rainfall continuing into Sunday. Total accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected for most areas, with some localized spots possibly exceeding 2 inches.

While severe storms are not anticipated, forecasters warn that minor flooding could occur in urban and poor drainage areas, especially during heavier rain bursts. Periods of moderate rainfall will last from Saturday night into early Sunday.

By Sunday afternoon, winds will increase as a low-pressure system strengthens over the Great Lakes. Gusts could reach 30 mph or higher, making travel and outdoor activities challenging at times.

Temperatures will rise into the 70s Saturday before cooling Sunday under cloudy, breezy conditions. Rain is expected to taper off late Sunday night as the system exits eastward.
