DETROIT, Mich. – Metro Detroit wakes up to cool, partly sunny skies Friday with highs only reaching the mid-60s before a stretch of warmer, summerlike weather builds into early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, high pressure will keep the region dry through the holiday weekend, with temperatures gradually climbing each day. Saturday will bring mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid-70s, while Sunday edges closer to the upper 70s.
By Labor Day, southeast Michigan will feel more like midsummer, with sunny skies and highs pushing 80 degrees across much of the area. Low humidity and dry conditions will make it ideal for barbecues, boating, and outdoor travel, though officials still recommend carrying water and using sunscreen during afternoon hours.
Tuesday looks even warmer, with partly sunny skies and highs reaching the low 80s, continuing the dry stretch into midweek.
The weather service says no significant rain chances are in sight through Tuesday, giving Michiganders one of the driest and sunniest Labor Day weekends in recent years.
