Detroit, MI – Michigan residents are bracing for a mix of spring showers, high winds, and thunderstorms as the weekend approaches. A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for southeast Michigan, with an elevated risk of severe thunderstorms Friday night through Saturday. The storm system will bring scattered thunderstorms capable of producing small hail, heavy rain, and gusty winds, especially along the I-69 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms are expected to develop late Friday evening, primarily north of I-69, and will move eastward at about 30 mph. The weather will calm briefly overnight but another round of storms may develop Friday evening or Saturday morning.

Beyond Friday, conditions will remain unsettled. A renewed chance of severe thunderstorms will spread across the region on Saturday evening and night. Southwest winds gusting between 30 to 40 mph will also create hazardous conditions, especially in open areas.
