DETROIT, Mich. – Showers and thunderstorms are moving across southeast Michigan this morning, with locally heavy rainfall possible through early afternoon. Drivers in Detroit and surrounding suburbs could face reduced visibility and ponding on roads during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, another round of storms may develop late this afternoon and evening, especially south of I-69. While these storms are not expected to reach severe levels, forecasters warn they could still produce heavy downpours and wind gusts around 40 mph.

Communities from Ann Arbor to Monroe should prepare for brief delays on major routes, including I-75 and US-23, during periods of heavy rain. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and allow extra time for travel in case of sudden downpours.

Conditions will calm by Wednesday as drier, cooler air settles in. Sunshine returns midweek, and a stretch of quiet, comfortable weather is expected into the weekend.

No additional hazardous weather is anticipated beyond tonight, but forecasters note more advisories could be issued if storm coverage increases.
