Southeast Michigan Weather: Afternoon Storms, Wind Damage Risk, and Flooding Possible Saturday From 2–10 p.m.

Detroit, Michigan – Strong thunderstorms could rattle southeast Michigan by mid-afternoon Saturday, bringing the threat of damaging winds, localized flooding, and hail to cities including Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Flint.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit, a Slight Risk of severe weather is in place through 10 p.m. tonight. The greatest danger will come from wind gusts over 60 mph, with storm clusters developing between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Areas in and around Wayne, Oakland, and Washtenaw counties could also see brief downpours and small hail.

Drivers should be alert for sudden changes in visibility and ponding on roads like I-94 and M-14. The heat will peak near 90°F this afternoon, with heat indices climbing into the upper 90s before the storms roll in.

Storms are expected to taper off after dark, with overnight lows in the upper 60s. Sunday will bring some relief, with cooler, drier air and highs in the low to mid-80s.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, charge devices, and monitor weather alerts. Additional warnings may be issued as storms develop.
