Saginaw, MI – Drivers in Saginaw and Tuscola Counties are bracing for up to 5 inches of snowfall through Friday evening. Winter weather is creating hazardous conditions along key routes, including I-75, with slippery roads and reduced visibility expected.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), widespread snow early Friday brought 2 to 3 inches by midday, with additional lake-effect snow bands capable of dropping another 1 to 2 inches in the afternoon. The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m.
Residents and travelers should slow down and allow extra time for commutes. Snowplows are actively clearing roads, but rapidly accumulating snow may create challenges throughout the day. MDOT recommends checking their Michigan Drive Map for real-time updates on road conditions.
Looking ahead, the weekend forecast predicts calmer weather for Saturday, with partly cloudy skies and highs around 30°F. However, snow showers may return Sunday evening, potentially adding another 1 to 2 inches to the region.
The five-day forecast shows temperatures remaining below freezing into early next week, keeping roads icy in spots. Take precautions when traveling, especially on less-traveled rural roads that may refreeze overnight.
