Detroit, Michigan – Southeast Michigan will enjoy warm, dry conditions through Labor Day and into Tuesday before showers and a sharp cooldown arrive midweek. Afternoon highs near 80 will give way to 60s by Thursday as storm chances rise.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, sunshine dominates Monday with highs in the upper 70s. Tuesday stays warm with highs near 80, though rising humidity signals change. By Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms move into the region, with rain chances reaching 75 percent in some areas.
Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Flint are expected to see scattered storms Wednesday afternoon and evening, which could affect commuters on I-75, I-94, and US-23. The storms may bring brief heavy rain and gusty winds before cooler air settles in.
Thursday and Friday will feel much different, with highs in the mid-60s and lows dipping into the mid-40s. Showers remain possible both days, and residents are urged to keep jackets and umbrellas handy. Cooler, breezy afternoons will mark a notable shift toward fall.
More rain is possible late week, and forecasters say additional advisories may be issued if storms develop.
