Detroit, Michigan – Southeast Michigan will enjoy a brief reprieve from the muggy conditions Sunday and Monday, but temperatures are set to soar near 90°F by Tuesday with late-day storms possible.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit, a weak cold front is slowly pushing in cooler, less humid air, with noticeable relief expected by tonight and into Monday. Highs will remain in the mid to upper 80s both days, with mainly dry conditions.

An uptick in heat and humidity returns Tuesday afternoon, with highs ranging from 87°F to 90°F and thunderstorms possible by evening, especially in areas south and east of I-94. The chance for storms increases further Wednesday and Thursday, when a more active pattern develops across the state.

Sunday afternoon could still bring isolated showers near the Michigan/Ontario border. Travelers near Port Huron and Monroe should stay alert to quick pop-up cells. Monday remains dry and warm, making it ideal for outdoor plans, but residents are advised to stay hydrated heading into midweek.

Showers and storms are expected to return more broadly Wednesday through Thursday. More updates are expected by early Tuesday morning.
