Southeast Michigan Faces Damaging Winds, Storms, Humidity This Week

Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan is bracing for a week of stormy weather, with increased clouds and humidity expected to persist. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a forecast indicating a chance of showers near the Tri-Cities tonight. A cold front moving in on Wednesday is predicted to bring afternoon storms, some of which may be severe with damaging wind gusts south of I-69.

According to the NWS, today will see highs between 78-82°F with increasing clouds. Humidity levels will rise, contributing to a sticky and uncomfortable day. Wednesday’s temperatures are expected to peak between 84-88°F, with isolated strong storms possible. The storms could be severe, with wind gusts posing a significant threat.

Independence Day will be partly cloudy with a high of 84-89°F, offering a brief respite from the storms. However, the reprieve is short-lived as Friday brings a 50-70% chance of storms with highs between 81-84°F. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall are likely.

Saturday’s forecast includes a 30-50% chance of scattered showers with highs ranging from 77-82°F. The humidity will continue, making the air feel warmer and more oppressive. Sunday should see some improvement with lower chances of rain and temperatures between 64-68°F.
