Southeast Kansas – A severe storm with the potential for golf ball-sized hail is moving across southeast Woodson County and into northeast Wilson County. The storm, which was located northwest of Chanute at 4:40 p.m., also brings the threat of 70 mph winds.
According to the US National Weather Service in Wichita, KS, the storm is expected to track slowly to the southeast. Residents in the affected areas should prepare for significant hail and strong winds. The National Weather Service advises staying indoors and securing outdoor objects.
Further weather disturbances are anticipated after midnight, with chances of scattered to numerous showers and storms extending into Sunday morning. Hazards include nickel-sized hail and pockets of heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding. Areas such as Hutchinson and Harper have a 66% chance of storms, while Wichita has a 61% chance. The public is urged to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions.
