Wichita, Kansas – Thunderstorms and a dramatic cooldown are on the way for Kansas, with highs dropping into the upper 60s by Monday after a hot, stormy weekend across the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, hit-or-miss showers and isolated thunderstorms will begin Saturday and continue into next week, with the highest storm chances expected late Sunday night through Monday. Central, south-central, and southeast Kansas should prepare for numerous thunderstorms Monday, with rainfall possibly disrupting morning commutes and localized flooding possible in low-lying areas.

High temperatures will shift from the upper 80s on Saturday to the upper 60s and low 70s by early next week. Lows will settle into the mid-to-upper 50s through Wednesday. Cities including Wichita, Hutchinson, and Winfield will see isolated storm activity Saturday and Sunday, before more widespread rain rolls in.

Drivers should avoid flooded roadways and allow extra travel time during Monday’s storm activity. Residents are also urged to check local alerts and prepare for changing weather conditions, particularly if commuting or working outdoors.

Cooler temperatures will linger through at least midweek, with more storm chances possible by Tuesday and Wednesday.
