Greenville, SC – Heavy rain continues to pummel parts of the Southeast this morning, with isolated flash flooding possible across areas east of the Blue Ridge and into southeast Georgia. Commuters in South Carolina and northern Georgia should remain alert, especially along and east of I-77 where stormwater runoff could cause road issues through early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Greenville-Spartanburg and Peachtree City, scattered storms will redevelop later today after widespread morning rainfall. The greatest risk of flooding remains in southeast Georgia, where an active Flood Watch is in effect. Up to 2 inches of additional rainfall is possible, compounding the several inches already recorded this week.

In South Carolina, isolated flooding is most likely outside the mountain regions, particularly near Columbia and Rock Hill. Across Georgia, cities like Dublin, Macon, and Vidalia could face ponding on roads and minor stream flooding. Motorists are urged to avoid water-covered roads and prepare for delays during the evening commute.

While temperatures are climbing slightly, most areas will stay below typical August heat. Conditions are expected to gradually dry out by Thursday, but more alerts are possible if thunderstorms persist.
