Phoenix, AZ – An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect today across southeast California and southwest Arizona, with temperatures expected to reach up to 117°F. Residents in the Phoenix Metro area will experience highs between 107°F and 114°F, continuing into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the warning will remain active through Friday evening, with highs reaching dangerous levels. The warning also impacts communities in the Globe/Miami/Tonto Basin, where temperatures are predicted to hit 109°F today. The NWS urges residents to take immediate precautions, such as staying hydrated and avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Cooling centers are available daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Arizona 211 for those without access to air conditioning. Health officials stress the importance of watching for signs of heat stress, including dizziness, excessive sweating, and rapid pulse. The current heat wave is expected to last until at least Saturday, with slightly cooler temperatures early next week.
