Phoenix, AZ – A cold front sweeping through Arizona and southeast California is expected to bring unseasonably low morning temperatures this weekend. Residents should prepare for brisk mornings, with Sunday lows dipping into the upper 30s to mid-40s, even in desert regions.

According to the National Weather Service, Phoenix is forecast to see a morning low of 39°F on Sunday, while surrounding areas, including Casa Grande and Gila Bend, will experience similar chills. Areas closer to Prescott and Payson may see freezing conditions in the 20s. Motorists along I-10 and nearby roadways are advised to check their vehicles for frost and leave extra travel time early in the day.

This cold trend is expected to persist into early next week, with Monday morning lows around 45°F in Phoenix and other central Arizona areas. Daytime highs will remain comfortable, climbing to the mid to upper 60s through Tuesday.

By midweek, temperatures will gradually warm, with highs reaching 77°F by Thursday. However, nighttime lows will stay cool, maintaining a brisk start to mornings.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to dress in layers and keep a sweater or jacket handy during morning commutes. Travelers heading to higher elevations, like Flagstaff or Payson, should prepare for potential icy patches on roads.
