Tallahassee, Florida – Heavy rain and saturated ground are pushing parts of Southeast Alabama and Southwest Georgia closer to flash flooding, with a Flood Watch now extended through Tuesday evening across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, widespread rainfall since Saturday has already dropped 1–2 inches across the area, with another 1–2 inches possible today and isolated spots reaching 4 inches or more. Low-lying roads, rivers, and creeks—particularly in places like Dothan, Enterprise, Bainbridge, and Albany—are at heightened risk for flooding due to soaked soil and continued downpours.
Localized flooding could impact Highway 431 in Alabama and U.S. Route 84 in Georgia, especially in areas prone to poor drainage. Residents in flood-prone zones are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and never attempt to drive through standing water.
Highs will range from the mid-80s in areas like Fort Gaines and Blountstown to near 90 in Valdosta, Madison, and Tallahassee. Rain chances remain high throughout the day, with the heaviest bands expected by late afternoon and early evening.
Flood watches remain active until tonight, with more advisories possible if rainfall intensifies.
