Corpus Christi, TX – Elevated fire weather conditions are expected across South Texas this afternoon, posing risks in areas stretching from the Brush Country to the Rio Grande Plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, the fire danger statement remains in effect from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, impacting counties including La Salle, Webb, Duval, Jim Wells, McMullen, Live Oak, Bee, and inland portions of Nueces and San Patricio. The combination of 15-20 mph winds, relative humidity levels between 15% and 30%, and critically dry fuels will significantly raise the risk of fire ignition and spread.

Residents in Laredo, Cotulla, Tilden, Alice, and surrounding areas are advised to avoid using open flames, refrain from parking vehicles on dry grass, and ensure all cigarettes are properly discarded.

This weather pattern is not unusual for April in South Texas, where spring dryness and gusty winds often heighten wildfire threats. Officials urge heightened caution until conditions stabilize this evening.

No burn bans have been newly issued as of early Friday, but local emergency services remain on alert. For ongoing updates, follow @NWSCorpus or consult the National Weather Service’s fire danger resources.
