SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A brisk north wind sweeps across the Hill Country this morning, rustling dry grass and scattering oak leaves down quiet suburban streets. The sky is a crisp blue, but the air carries a bite — and a bit of risk.

A Wind Advisory and Red Flag Warning remain in effect for much of south-central Texas through early evening, as gusts up to 30 mph combine with very dry air to create elevated fire danger. The National Weather Service in Austin–San Antonio urges residents to avoid any outdoor burning, secure loose decorations, and stay alert for blowing dust on rural roadways.

Winds gradually ease later today, with high temperatures reaching the upper 60s to near 70°F under clear skies. By Thursday, the region settles into a stretch of textbook fall weather — bright, calm, and mild. Afternoon highs climb into the low 70s, with cool mornings near 40°F, ideal for outdoor events and final Halloween preparations.

Friday — Halloween — will feel nearly perfect for trick-or-treating and evening events. Sunshine dominates the day, with highs near 75°F and light winds. Temperatures slip into the upper 50s after sunset, comfortable for families out walking neighborhoods or enjoying festivals.

The weekend stays quiet with highs around 78°F and just a slight chance of isolated showers late Saturday. Clocks fall back early Sunday morning, marking the return of darker evenings — and, soon enough, the chillier breezes of November.
