South Texas Residents: Prepare for a Chilly Thursday as Highs Stay in the 60s

Corpus Christi, TX – South Texas begins the new year with cooler weather and a low risk of rip currents along area beaches. Cloudy skies and northeast winds are keeping temperatures in the mid-60s today, with a gradual warming trend expected later this week.

According to the National Weather Service, highs today will reach about 64°F, while tonight’s low will dip into the upper 50s. Visitors to the beach should note a low rip current risk but remain cautious near piers and jetties. Northeast winds could reach up to 20 mph, adding a slight chill to the coastal air.

Thursday is forecast to stay mostly cloudy, with temperatures peaking near 66°F. Winds will lighten slightly, shifting northeast at 10–15 mph. Friday marks the beginning of a warming trend, with sunny skies and highs approaching 70°F. By Saturday, South Texas will enjoy even warmer conditions, with highs reaching the low 80s, perfect for outdoor activities.

Weekend lows will remain comfortable, ranging between 51°F and 61°F from Friday to Sunday nights. Sunday is expected to be the warmest day of the weekend, with highs in the mid-80s and sunny skies dominating the forecast.

Residents should prepare for cooler mornings but plan to enjoy outdoor activities as temperatures rise steadily through the weekend. A weak front is projected to arrive Monday, dropping highs back to the 60s by early next week.
