Corpus Christi, Texas – Slow-moving thunderstorms are expected to drench South Texas through Sunday night, raising the risk of localized flooding in several communities. The National Weather Service warns that rainfall totals could reach 2 to 3 inches, particularly where storms stall.
According to the NWS Corpus Christi office, the heaviest activity will target the Coastal Bend and South Texas Plains, including Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, Alice, Kingsville, and Cotulla. A Marginal Risk of excessive rainfall remains in place, meaning minor flooding is possible in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
Drivers are urged to use caution on roadways, especially near underpasses and rural routes where flash flooding develops quickly. “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” remains the key safety message for residents encountering water over the road.
High temperatures will remain in the upper 80s along the coast and low to mid-90s inland, adding humidity to the unsettled pattern. Storms should diminish overnight but may redevelop again Monday south of SH-44, with rain chances lingering through midweek.
Rainfall could briefly ease by Tuesday before storms return along the Coastal Plains Thursday and Friday. Additional advisories may be issued if heavier downpours persist.
