Corpus Christi, Texas – Hazardous marine conditions are creating a risky start to the week along the Texas Gulf Coast, where a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. Monday. Wind gusts up to 30 knots and waves as high as 7 feet are making navigation dangerous, especially for inexperienced mariners.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, southeast winds near 20 knots are expected to ease slightly to 15–20 knots this afternoon. The advisory covers all Gulf waters and bays near cities like Rockport, Port Aransas, and Port Lavaca, where high seas and strong gusts could impact commercial and recreational boating.
Meanwhile, a prolonged stretch of hot weather is gripping South Texas, with inland highs forecast to reach between 100°F and 103°F through Saturday. Coastal areas including Corpus Christi, Kingsville, and Port Isabel will see highs in the upper 80s to mid-90s. Overnight lows will stay in the mid-70s. Scattered thunderstorms may develop throughout the week, with rain chances peaking Wednesday.
Mariners are urged to avoid small vessel operations until conditions calm. Residents should stay hydrated and limit afternoon outdoor activities during peak heat.
The Small Craft Advisory expires at 1 p.m., but additional weather updates are likely as summer-like conditions persist.
