Corpus Christi, Texas – A dangerous stretch of extreme heat continues across South Texas, with heat index values soaring past 110° in many inland areas Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a second advisory taking hold Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. for Webb, Duval, Jim Wells, and six other counties including inland Nueces and San Patricio. Heat index values could reach 112°, posing serious health risks for those without access to cooling.

Cities including Laredo, Alice, and Kingsville are expected to experience the worst of the heat. Outdoor workers, especially in construction and agriculture, are urged to take frequent shaded breaks and hydrate regularly. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends limiting physical exertion during peak hours and watching for signs of heat stroke.

Residents should check on vulnerable neighbors, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and ensure pets have access to shade and water. With the combination of humidity and high temperatures, heat-related illnesses can develop rapidly.

Advisories may extend into the weekend if conditions persist. Stay tuned for updated guidance from local emergency management.
