Corpus Christi, TX – A cold night is ahead for parts of South Texas, with near-freezing temperatures possible late tonight into early Monday morning, according to forecasters.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, clearing skies and light winds behind a morning cold front will allow temperatures to fall into the 30s across northeastern portions of the region. A few locations could briefly dip below freezing, mainly across the Victoria Crossroads and other low-lying areas.
Forecasters estimate a low to medium chance (20–40%) of temperatures dropping below 32 degrees, with any freezing conditions expected to be short-lived, lasting 0 to 2 hours near sunrise Monday morning.
Wind chill values will make it feel colder, with 25–30°F wind chills possible in the Victoria Crossroads and 30–40°F elsewhere across the Coastal Bend and Brush Country.
The NWS advises residents to take simple precautions, including protecting sensitive outdoor plants and ensuring pets are brought indoors overnight. While widespread damage is not expected, even brief freezing temperatures can harm exposed vegetation.
Temperatures are expected to rebound quickly after sunrise Monday, with milder conditions returning by late morning and afternoon.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts overnight, especially if living in rural or low-lying areas where temperatures can fall more quickly.
