Mount Holly, NJ – Southern New Jersey is experiencing icy roads and light snowfall this morning as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m.
The National Weather Service reports that mixed precipitation, including light snow and freezing rain, is making travel hazardous across Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester counties. Snow accumulations of up to one inch and a light glaze of ice are expected, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roadways.
Drivers are advised to reduce speeds and exercise caution while traveling. Pedestrians should also watch for slippery sidewalks, stairs, and driveways. These hazardous conditions are likely to disrupt morning and midday travel.
Temperatures will remain near freezing through the morning before falling into the mid-20s tonight, creating additional concerns for icy conditions. Christmas Day is expected to bring a mix of freezing rain and light snow in the morning hours. By the weekend, another storm system could deliver more snow and icy conditions.
Residents planning holiday travel should stay updated on local weather forecasts and call 511 for current road conditions. Prepare vehicles with winter supplies and avoid unnecessary travel when roads are most slippery.
Stay alert while walking outdoors, as untreated surfaces will likely remain icy through the day.
