PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A wall of moisture is marching toward the Delaware Valley this morning, bringing a brisk fall shift from sunshine to soaking showers. After a calm, partly cloudy dawn near 53°F, skies will darken quickly as a developing low slides up the coast. Travelers on I-95 and I-76 should prepare for slick pavement and brief downpours during the evening commute as winds gust toward 30 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, rainfall could reach up to half an inch by late Sunday night, with isolated thunderstorms sweeping through before daybreak. South winds will intensify near 20 mph, ushering in a sharp cooldown for Monday. Temperatures will struggle to reach the mid-60s, and morning commuters could see patchy mist or leftover puddles along major routes from King of Prussia to Camden.

By Tuesday, drier air builds in, pushing highs near 68°F under full sun. That will be the week’s brief warm pocket before another system drifts in midweek. Forecasters expect a cooler, breezy pattern by Wednesday, dropping daytime highs to the low 60s and hinting at the region’s first widespread chill by Thursday morning.

Residents planning outdoor cleanup or early Halloween decorations should use Tuesday for dry conditions. Keep gutters clear, charge devices, and dress in layers for the shifting air mass. While no frost is expected yet, cooler nights later in the week signal that late-October’s winter transition is starting to whisper across the Mid-Atlantic.
